About Loopsmith
Loopsmith is a practice tool built for musicians and learners who use YouTube as their primary source for tutorials, backing tracks, and performances. It gives you precise control over any YouTube video so you can focus on the sections that matter.
The problem
YouTube's built-in controls aren't designed for practice. Scrubbing to the right spot, replaying the same 4 bars, or slowing down a fast passage all require constant fiddling. Every time you lose your place, you lose your focus.
How it works
- Paste any YouTube URL to load a video instantly
- Create named loop sections (intro, verse, solo, etc.) on an interactive timeline
- Switch between loops with a single click or keyboard shortcut
- Scrub frame-by-frame with arrow keys, constrained to the active loop
- Adjust playback speed to slow down tricky passages
- Drag loop regions or resize their edges directly on the timeline
- All your videos and loops are saved to the cloud and sync across devices
Who it's for
Anyone who learns by ear or practices along with video: guitarists, pianists, drummers, vocalists, dancers, language learners, or anyone who needs to replay a specific section over and over until they've got it down.
